6. No Pot of Gold

Drawn by rainbow light, Jason’s team and nearby adventurers converge on Old City as onlookers waver between fleeing and spectating. Clive identifies a water-utility hub below; Jason anticipates a sewage-themed manifestation. Wastewater geysers erupt, raining filth that crawls into pools and coalesces into elementals across streets and rooftops.

Henrietta orders immediate engagement with force and explosive attacks while avoiding absorbable water powers. Jason assigns roles: he and Sophie manage panicked civilians; Humphrey smashes elementals; Clive and Belinda provide resonant force and control; Neil protects and heals. Jason deploys Gordon and Shade, whose force beams and mana drain degrade the elementals, while Jason’s sword escalates in potency.

Henrietta unleashes her familiars—ash dervish, winged eye, and a healing lantern—then summons a golden-flame crow, a winged centaur, a four-winged angel with healing/desiccating hands, and a furnace golem. Together with other adventurers, they suppress iron- and bronze-rank elementals as the deluge spreads through buildings. Despite rescues, Jason finds casualties drowned in viscous waste.

The geyser abates only when a towering silver-rank elemental forms. As bronze-rankers prepare to engage, silver-rank adventurer Bertrand Bertinelli arrives, leaping in and hammering the creature apart, marking the battle’s turn. Coordinated cleanup follows as ranks match targets and remaining elementals are destroyed.

Afterward, Jason supplies crystal wash. Bertrand recognises Jason and identifies Sophie, revealing she was secretly protected for months by a friend of the Adventure Society director, who covertly intervened to keep her free. The team trades brief banter, closing on the note of new alliances and unsettling oversight.
