Grawp
Overview
Hogwarts reels from Fred and George’s exit as pranks, Snackboxes, and Peeves overwhelm Umbridge. Hagrid secretly leads Harry and Hermione into the Forbidden Forest and reveals Grawp, his hostile giant half-brother, asking them to help if he is sacked. Centaurs angrily warn Hagrid away. Meanwhile, Ron backstops Gryffindor to the Quidditch Cup, reversing his fortunes.
Summary
In the wake of Fred and George’s dramatic departure, Hogwarts erupts in sustained rebellion: their swamp remains, a niffler wrecks Umbridge’s office, Snackboxes cripple her classes, and Peeves intensifies havoc while staff pointedly refuse to help. Montague remains addled; Ron fears blame from Mrs. Weasley until Harry admits he funded the twins’ shop with his Triwizard gold.
As exams loom, Hermione presses Harry to resume Occlumency, but Harry continues dreaming about the Department of Mysteries. The Gryffindor–Ravenclaw match arrives with low confidence in Ron. During the game, Hagrid furtively summons Harry and Hermione away from the stands.
Hagrid takes them deep into the Forbidden Forest, revealing he expects to be sacked and needs their help. He unveils Grawp, his undersized (sixteen-foot) giant half-brother he dragged from the giants’ colony, now restrained and barely manageable. Hagrid asks them to visit and teach Grawp if he is dismissed; a perilous introduction ends with Grawp grabbing for Hermione and injuring Hagrid.
On their return, armed centaurs led by Magorian and Bane confront Hagrid, denouncing Firenze and warning Hagrid to stay out of the forest and cease harboring Grawp. Hagrid refuses and ushers the students back toward the castle.
They emerge to jubilant crowds: Ron has kept a clean sheet and Gryffindor have won the Quidditch Cup. Harry and Hermione postpone telling Ron about Grawp as celebratory chants of “Weasley Is Our King” ring out in triumph.
