Chapter Eight

Margo and Bodhi are struck by a brutal stomach flu. Alone and feverish, Margo struggles to keep Bodhi hydrated and manages with towels, a bowl, and Sesame Street. Desperate, she leaves a message for Dr. Azarian, and Jinx arrives with supplies, takes Bodhi, and tends to Margo as she vomits, offering steady comfort.

On the phone, Dr. Azarian orders Margo to stop nursing until Bodhi goes six hours without vomiting and to use Pedialyte, with ER only if fever spikes. Through the night, Jinx monitors Bodhi and lets Margo sleep. By early morning both have stabilized enough to rest, and Margo feels briefly safe.

When Margo finally checks OnlyFans, she discovers the WangMangler promotion has worked: 931 new fans and $4,645 overnight. Caught celebrating, she chooses honesty and tells Jinx everything. Jinx reacts with anger and moral judgment about “those kinds of girls,” arguing sex work will change how men view Margo. Their argument escalates as Margo defends her need to provide for Bodhi and reveals Bodhi’s father was her former teacher, Mark; Jinx is furious but insists he, as her father, forbids the work.

Hurt and isolated, Margo manages the day without Jinx’s help while planning better content. She approaches Suzie to propose borrowing cosplay outfits to vary shoots. Suzie, curious and blunt, reframes the “slut” label as about control and praises Margo’s earnings, affirming her power and safety in this choice, which relieves Margo.

That evening, Jinx returns with Bodhi and, recalling his wrestling career and parallels to performance and bodily labor, apologizes. He acknowledges his protective instincts turned into disdain, rejects his earlier objectifying views, and promises unconditional love and respect regardless of Margo’s work.
