Overview
At a major awards show, Skylar braces herself, then reunites with West on the red carpet and publicly reconciles. They exit early after West confronts and decks her father, signaling a definitive break from her past and a return to their shared home.
Summary
Skylar arrives at the awards determined to win on her own terms and finally admits to herself she hates the red-carpet circus. Planning this as her last appearance, she steels herself—then is stunned when West appears beside her, having flown in to support her. They embrace and reconcile publicly, vowing to face hardships together.
Inside, Ford quietly yields his seat, revealing he orchestrated their reunion. As nominees are read, West reassures Skylar she will win. When Skylar is announced as Song of the Year for “Photosynthesis,” West celebrates her, while her father shouts from the audience. Skylar ignores him and goes to the stage.
In her acceptance speech, Skylar declares pride in creating her own work, reveals a childhood of abuse and constant performance, and credits Ford and Cora for empowering her artistry. She professes love for West, dedicates the win to Ollie and Emmy, and announces she’s done performing: the album will be her last, and she’s choosing a real life in a small Canadian mountain town.
Skylar returns to West, confirms she planned to fly home that night, and decides to leave the show immediately. On the way out, West confronts her red-faced father and agent, punches her father, and warns both to stay away from Skylar.
