Overview
Kamran is ambushed in his own rooms by men attempting to abduct him, but he fights them off with lethal skill and barely controlled fury. The attack is revealed not as an enemy strike but as an act arranged by Kamran’s grandfather, the king, who summons him for a serious conversation.
The chapter shifts Kamran’s danger inward, showing that palace power and family authority may be as threatening as any external enemy. The king’s involvement suggests Kamran is being forced into a confrontation about secrets, prophecy, or loyalty.
Summary
Late at night, Kamran hears violent pounding at his door and wonders whether the palace is under attack. Seeing no sign of broader commotion, he dresses quickly, straps on his sword out of habit, and opens the door.
Two men immediately ambush Kamran, throwing a hood over his head, forcing a stone gag into his mouth, choking him, and trying to bind his hands. Kamran realizes the attackers have orders to capture rather than kill him, which gives him an advantage because he is willing to risk death to escape.
Fueled by the anger he has been suppressing all day, Kamran fights back despite being blinded and restrained. He injures one attacker, frees his wrists, tears off the hood, draws his sword, and subdues both men with controlled violence.
When Kamran threatens the remaining conscious attacker and demands to know who sent them, the answer comes from someone else: the king. Kamran releases the man in shock as his grandfather appears and calmly orders Kamran to join him, saying they have much to discuss.
