Summary
Before leaving the dorm, Belly gathers Conrad’s textbooks, notebooks, and laptop, determined that Conrad will be able to study for upcoming midterms. She hands Jeremiah the laptop and frames their mission as both rescue and responsibility.
They stop by Ari the RA’s room, where Jeremiah introduces himself, thanks Ari for the heads-up, and smoothly reassures him that Conrad has been found. Ari is relieved, and Jeremiah’s easy charm leaves a positive impression.
With that, Belly and Jeremiah drive straight to Cousins with the windows down and the radio up. They travel mostly in silence, each lost in thought; Belly reflects on the last time she drove this road with Conrad, highlighting her unresolved feelings and the changed dynamics as she now heads there with Jeremiah to retrieve Conrad.
