Summary
In Boston, Sonya, overwhelmed by the increasingly formal, Brandon-driven wedding plans, heads home after canceling a florist appointment. She arrives to find evidence of an affair—Tracie’s red stilettos and a discarded dress—then walks in on Brandon having sex with her cousin.
Furious, Sonya orders Tracie out and confronts Brandon, rejecting his attempts to placate her and ejecting him from the house, even removing his key. She refuses reconciliation and locks the door, shocked by her own lack of tears but sustained by anger.
Sonya calls her best friend Cleo, who rushes over. As Cleo’s outrage validates Sonya’s feelings, Sonya admits she’d nearly lost herself in Brandon’s tastes and would have married him on his terms.
