Chapter 46

Overview

Aris enters the cave, secures a goblet that fills with pure magic, and resolves to deliver it to Kira’s sister. She summons the God of Travels, who admits burning Aris’s village because of prophecy and offers a path to resurrect Aris’s family: kill the God of Death. Bound by a blood oath not to kill the goddess, Aris exploits a loophole and has her dragon devour the deity.

Summary

Aris recalls telling Stellan at age twelve that she would kill the silver‑eyed goddess who burned her life. In the present, she enters a glittering cavern of goblets and claims a silver chalice that miraculously fills with contained, spill‑proof liquid magic, resolving to send it to Kira’s sister.

Aris slices her palm on her starblade and blood‑summons the God of Travels, reasoning that the gate‑maker can be reached here. The goddess arrives, gleaming with embedded gems, and shows no remorse when Aris accuses her of annihilating the village.

Pressed for motive, the goddess states she acted because of a prophecy and views mortals as irrelevant unless they threaten the gods. She reads Aris’s desire and offers a bargain: swear by blood not to kill her, and she will reveal how to bring Aris’s family back.

Torn between vengeance and the chance to undo her loss, Aris drops her blade and swears the oath. The goddess swears on her own blood there is a way, then tells Aris: kill the God of Death, and her family can return.

Thanking the goddess yet refusing to let the matter end, Aris summons her dragon through the arch. When the goddess protests the blood oath, Aris notes she never barred her dragon. The dragon immediately swallows the goddess whole, fulfilling Aris’s need for justice without breaking the letter of the oath.
