XXX Hazel

Percy wakes Hazel and Frank as they reach Seattle. Ella claims Hazel and Frank were “sharing” and insists the blackouts will stop. Hazel feels newly grounded, still carrying Frank’s lifeline tinder. With the Pax leaking and failing, they dock as Ella departs to find books; the boat promptly breaks apart.

Searching Seattle for Amazons, they eventually enter an office marked AMAZON. Inside, Kinzie and armed Amazons subdue them for trespassing and march them into an enormous underground fulfillment complex run by Amazons, with collared male workers and weaponized forklifts. Hazel is disturbed by caged mythical creatures being shipped worldwide.

In a throne room built of stacked bestsellers, Hazel spots Arion, the extraordinary stallion she once chased in Alaska, now caged and deemed “difficult.” Queen Hylla presides, while internal dissent simmers among Amazons loyal to Otrera, their resurrected founder.

Hylla recognizes Percy from Circe’s Island, blaming him for the spa’s destruction and her captivity by pirates. Percy’s returning memories and Reyna’s ring on his necklace stay Hylla’s hand as Hazel explains Camp Jupiter’s plight, the northern war, and their quest to free Thanatos.

Otrera arrives, declaring Gaea’s support and urging Amazons to reject Jupiter, openly challenging Hylla’s authority with a coup planned for that night. The ranks split uneasily. Hylla insists on Amazon law and reasoned judgment, ordering Percy and Frank to holding cells while keeping Hazel to speak privately.

Once alone, Hylla drops her hostility, revealing desperation. With Otrera’s bid imminent and her own death likely by midnight, Hylla turns to Hazel for a crucial, urgent conversation.
