Overview
After celebrating a courtroom victory, Sarah learns Adam is at the Prince William County Sheriff’s office and rushes there. Sheriff Stevens questions her about Adam’s whereabouts and Kelly Summers, then reveals photos of Kelly murdered in their lake house bed. Shocked but composed, Sarah asserts she will represent Adam.
Summary
Sarah celebrates her successful closing with Anne and Matthew, discussing the possibility of having a baby. A call from Adam’s mother, Eleanor, informs Sarah that Adam is at the Prince William County Sheriff’s Station. Alarmed, Sarah leaves the restaurant with Matthew and heads to the station.
At the station, Sarah meets Sheriff Ryan Stevens, who begins a preliminary interview before allowing her to see Adam. He asks if Adam was with Sarah the previous night and whether their intimacy was typical, probing their marriage and establishing Adam’s alibi. Sarah states Adam was home by around 2 a.m. and mentions they are trying for a baby, while pushing back on the personal questions.
When asked if she knows Kelly Summers, Sarah denies it. Sheriff Stevens then shows her crime scene photos from their lake house: Kelly Summers lies dead in the bed, brutally stabbed. The images shock Sarah, but she regains composure and recognizes the gravity of the situation.
Deputy Marcus Hudson arrives to ask about allowing Adam to call his lawyer. Before the men decide, Sarah announces she is Adam’s lawyer, asserting control of Adam’s defense as the investigation tightens around him.
