6. Adam Morgan
Overview
Adam wakes buoyed by plans to start a family, but his day collapses when Sheriff Stevens and Deputy Hudson arrest him. At the station, he learns Kelly Summers was murdered in his lake-house bed. Under pressure, Adam admits the affair and points to her husband’s threatening texts, deepening the case’s stakes.
Summary
Adam wakes alone, exhilarated that he and Sarah finally align on having a family. He imagines impending fatherhood and heads downstairs, but remembering Kelly and the note he left jolts him. The doorbell interrupts; Sheriff Ryan Stevens and Deputy Marcus Hudson arrive and press to question him.
Adam, concerned for Sarah, resists their vague demands and tries to call her. The officers force entry, a struggle ensues, and Deputy Hudson subdues Adam with a knee strike before handcuffing him and taking him to the station.
In interrogation, the officers stall and ask Adam’s whereabouts. He admits he was at his Lake Manassas house late and drove home. When he demands a lawyer, tensions spike; Hudson explodes and reveals Kelly Summers was stabbed to death in Adam’s bed.
Reeling, Adam insists Kelly was alive when he left and suggests her husband is responsible, citing threatening texts he saw. Hudson, protective of Kelly, lashes out, while Sheriff Stevens says the case looks bad for Adam. Adam professes love for Kelly and is finally told to call his wife.
