36: Larissa

As evening approaches at the cabin, Mike corners Larissa, worried she is distant. Larissa brings up the night before the trip: Mike got drunk, passed out, and urinated on the floor. Pressed, Mike admits he bought vodka and remembers what happened. Larissa states she won’t stay with someone who does this.

Larissa pushes for honesty. Mike concedes he sometimes drinks alone and that this has happened off and on for years, saying alcohol helps him sleep, talk, and be himself. When Larissa asks if he is an alcoholic, he denies it. She realizes earlier “migraines” and missed calls were likely hangovers, including the night Chris cleared her car.

Larissa confronts the deceit and asks if Chris knew; Mike says Chris knew a little, not all. Mike begs her not to leave, insisting he can stop, and breaks down. Larissa, triggered by her history with secrecy and addiction, says she cannot live with self-destruction and lies.

Mike confesses anxiety over Larissa moving in and fears she’ll leave because he feels inadequate. Larissa then discovers he misled her about working for Tony; he had let her believe he would but wasn’t going to. The revelation deepens her sense of betrayal.

When Samantha knocks to invite them to the hot tub, Larissa ends the conversation, telling Mike she needs time but offering no timeline. Feeling trapped without her own space and doubting her judgment, Larissa leaves with her swimsuit, the relationship unresolved and in jeopardy.
