Chapter 25: Feyre
Overview
Feyre receives Polina’s abandoned studio as a gift from Polina’s family, who refuse payment and direct Feyre toward a charity for struggling artists. The discovery connects Feyre’s past poverty and love of painting to a new purpose in Velaris.
Moved by the Suriel’s remembered charge to improve the world, Feyre decides not merely to own the studio but to build something with Ressina. The chapter marks a quiet but important step in Feyre’s postwar healing and civic identity.
Summary
Two days after Solstice, Feyre arrives at Polina’s former studio and finds it cleared, clean, and open instead of boarded up and neglected. Feyre is stunned because Polina’s family has just given the space to Feyre rather than selling it.
Feyre explains to Ressina that Feyre went to Polina’s family farm that morning, tired of delaying what Feyre wanted to do with her life. Polina’s family seemed to expect Feyre and handed over the deed and key, refusing Feyre’s offer of payment.
Polina’s sister suggested that if Feyre wanted to spend the money, Feyre should donate it to the Brush and Chisel. Ressina explains that the Brush and Chisel is a charity that supports struggling artists and their families with basic needs so they can continue creating.
The revelation deeply moves Feyre, who remembers hunger in the cottage and the precious paint Feyre once hoarded. Feyre realizes that Velaris has a world where artists are protected and valued, something Feyre had never imagined.
Looking at the studio as a place waiting to become something, Feyre remembers the Suriel’s request to leave the world better than Feyre found it. Feyre then asks Ressina whether Ressina would consider taking on an inexperienced business partner, signaling Feyre’s decision to turn the studio into a meaningful artistic venture.
