Overview
Summary
Back at her apartment, Lauren recounts to her roommates Ryan and Taylor (over mimosas) the full backstory of her history with Junior Trocci. In high school, Junior was the untouchable bad boy from her church; during a church fundraiser, they flirted, and that night he pulled her into the shadows behind the church and got her off during the fireworks. They secretly hooked up for weeks, with Lauren slipping him explicit notes inspired by her fanfiction habit.
Disaster struck when Lauren's competitive friend Kelly snooped through her diary during a sleepover, stole it, and posted photos of the entries to Instagram. The story spread through school, and when Junior was confronted, he denied ever hooking up with Lauren, leaving her branded a stalker and liar. The bullying grew so severe that Nonna Bianchi pulled her from school, and Lauren transferred the next year, where she met Ryan and slowly healed.
Lauren explains the karmic aftermath: the negligent principal ended up hospitalized in a car accident, and straitlaced Kelly was caught with a large quantity of drugs in her locker and at home, derailing her future via a plea deal. Lauren still finds Kelly's downfall suspicious but never investigated.
Pressed about that morning, Lauren admits Junior cornered her, that she froze (or 'went boneless'), and that he attempted to flirt before her grandmother's friends inadvertently rescued her. Taylor enthusiastically chants for hate sex; Ryan disapproves. Lauren insists she'll never give Junior another chance, attributing her reaction to a long dry spell. Ryan proposes they go clubbing that night to remedy it.
Lauren takes Walter outside and notices a familiar man across the street mounting an expensive motorcycle in a villainous leather jacket and helmet. He nods at her; she waves, flustered by her attraction to the anonymous biker, and hopes the night ends her dry spell.
