In this interview, Msizi reflects on his life and how he came to be with Zelu. He grew up in Durban, South Africa, the son of a lawyer and an engineering professor, surrounded by intellectuals at UKZN. Self-taught in hacking, software, and app development, he loved fashion and built a confident, somewhat arrogant persona. He went to business school and began developing an AI personal assistant called Yebo while dating a string of beautiful models who showed little interest in his ambitions.

Msizi describes his toxic two-year relationship with Spice, a stunning, nihilistic fashion designer who idolized Jack Preston and dreamed of destructive wealth. After he ended things, Spice spat in his face and left for Europe. That same night, his cousin iNdonsa came to see him, presenting for the first time as a woman. Msizi recounts his confused, fearful, and even violent initial reactions, which he is still interrogating, but iNdonsa simply took him to dinner and helped him through the breakup.

Msizi explains iNdonsa's name and identity: a Zulu name for Jupiter, meaning the one who draws the sun. iNdonsa, now a prominent Durban DJ who loves science fiction and dates Black women, demanded acceptance and reshaped Msizi's worldview. Shortly before his cousin's wedding to Zelu's sister in Trinidad and Tobago, iNdonsa told Msizi he didn't know his real type, that Spice and the models weren't his kind, and urged him to find someone who excited his mind.

At the wedding, Msizi felt unburdened and open. When he saw Zelu, he immediately recognized what iNdonsa had meant. He later introduced Zelu to iNdonsa in Durban, where they bonded; iNdonsa called Zelu complex and applauded him. Asked about Zelu's recent choice to join the space mission, Msizi says he knew who he was dealing with, that Zelu must follow her own path, and that he would only regret getting in her way.
