After taking the children to school, Alix receives a missed call from a hotel near Tottenham Court Road. Hoping Nathan has simply slept off a binge there, Alix calls back, but the receptionist explains that Nathan checked in late Saturday with a female companion, failed to check out, and left behind a badly damaged room.

Alix goes to the hotel and finds Room 18 ransacked, with empty bottles, takeaway rubbish, women’s underwear, signs of sexual activity, broken furnishings, and a small smear of blood. Distressed, Alix asks to see the hotel records and CCTV because Nathan is still missing.

Hotel manager Astrid Pagano shows Alix footage from early Sunday morning. Nathan arrives extremely drunk with Katelyn Rand, who checks them in; around 3 a.m., Nathan leaves alone after checking his phone, then gets into the front passenger seat of a car after seeming uncertain about the driver. Alix writes down the number plate. Katelyn leaves moments later looking composed, though Alix notices a raw red scratch on Katelyn’s cheek. Astrid then reveals that the room was booked in Nathan’s name but paid for with a card belonging to Miss Erin Jade Fair.

A later documentary segment shows Katelyn explaining that Josie hired her for £1,000 to make it look as though Nathan had cheated, telling Katelyn she only needed to get Nathan into a hotel room and leave the rest to Josie. Katelyn says Nathan initially wanted to go home to Alix, but after several tequila shots he became too drunk to resist the plan.

At midday, Alix looks for Josie. Pat’s neighbour says Pat left for Stansted Airport alone on Saturday and has not seen Josie for months. Alix then checks Josie’s Manor Park Road flat, sees no life inside, and glimpses through a side window what appears to be Erin’s messy, squalid room. Back home, Alix emails Joanna Dafoe, a police contact, with the car registration. Joanna replies that the car was hired by Erin Jade Fair, prompting Alix to call the police and say she believes Nathan has been kidnapped.

A documentary interview with DC Sabrina Albright explains that police initially dismissed Alix’s report as domestic chaos, but an anonymous call from a Bristol payphone soon reported Erin Fair and Walter Fair missing. Police connected the repeated name Erin Fair, forced entry at Manor Park Road, and discovered Walter’s decomposing, beaten, bound body in the bathtub. Erin was found beaten and strapped to a child’s chair in a cupboard, barely alive and comatose. A newspaper report states that Josie Fair cannot be traced, and police are now investigating both Josie’s disappearance and Nathan Summer’s disappearance.
