Summary
Mona jolts awake from a nightmare of being grabbed while dancing in a Cleveland cage. In the dark, filthy squat, Eddy steadies her, then distances himself as she recoils from touch. The squalor, roaches, and heat intensify her desperation to leave, but she fears provoking Eddy’s violence.
When Mona complains, Eddy counters with a grand promise: a London-connected “mover” wants an actress and a handler, and they’ll fly by private jet to New York tomorrow. He throws an envelope with $2,000 onto the bed and tells her to buy non-work clothes, signaling a chance to escape the squat’s misery.
Mona, exhausted and wary, tests the promise, but Eddy shuts down doubts.
