28. Jaylene Slide

Inside Jammer’s office, Jackie treats Jammer’s severe hand burn with derms while Beauvoir wires the club’s front door with explosives to manage an expected breach. Amid the tension, Jammer proposes that Bobby earn safety by using an old Yakuza backdoor he knows, instructing Bobby on a dry run.

Bobby jacks into cyberspace, diving past the Dallas–Fort Worth “Basketball” per Jammer’s route. Suddenly he hits unexpected ice that isolates him from Jackie. A voice seizes control, moving Bobby into a sleek LA construct. The controller reveals herself as Jaylene Slide, a console cowboy hunting whoever killed her partner Ramirez and tracking Maas teams through the matrix.

Jaylene interrogates Bobby, linking him to the rocket attack on his mother’s condo and to the Finn incident. She asserts the siege at Jammer’s is run by heavily iced Europeans on Park Avenue, not Maas, and mentions an unknown helicopter that killed other Maas operatives. Despite Bobby’s plea, Jaylene refuses to help and dumps him back to Jammer’s deck.

Back in the office, Bobby finds two strangers: a tall, armed man and a young woman with dark eyes. Jackie reverently identifies the woman as a miraculous presence, and the man steadies her. Recognizing names, Bobby reports that Jaylene intercepted him. The armed man is Turner; the girl is Angie.

The office phone chimes. Onscreen appears a pale, bleached-haired man with a hard mouth—Conroy—who addresses Turner directly, warning that time is short and advising Turner to clear the room. The call signals a new phase in the standoff and forces immediate choices for everyone inside Jammer’s.
