A slamhound tracks Turner in New Delhi and detonates, nearly killing him. Thanks to his contract, he is evacuated to Singapore, where a Dutch surgeon and team rebuild his body over three months. During recovery, Turner lives inside a ROM-simulated New England boyhood, visited intermittently by the surgeon’s probing questions.

Released as “good as new,” Turner drifts through airports until a memory crash in Heathrow sends him to Mexico. In Puerto Vallarta and along a nearby beach town, he meets Allison. Their days settle into an intimate routine of markets, swimming, sex, and long conversations, which begins to restore Turner’s sense of bodily unity and calm.

Subtle tensions surface as Allison grows distant. During a beach picnic near a ruined hotel, Turner spots a yacht approaching. Recognizing it as Tsushima, he urges Allison to flee inland if trouble comes. A launch delivers Conroy, an operative for Hosaka, who brings Turner aboard.

Inside the yacht’s stark cabin, Conroy outlines a “crash job”: extracting Christopher Mitchell, Maas Biolabs’ key biochip and monoclonal expert, to Hosaka. Turner protests that he’s retired, but Conroy coolly insists. Conroy then reveals the twist—Allison is a field psychologist retained by Hosaka who evaluated Turner’s readiness after the Delhi trauma—forcing Turner to confront that his refuge was part therapy, part surveillance, and that he’s being pulled back into the covert corporate wars.
