65. Sorin: The Green Wyvern

Arcady, Everen, and Sorin land near Atrel at the ruin of Arcady’s childhood cottage. Confronting their past, Arcady plants their old dragonstone seal between their parents’ cairns and declares Arcady Eremia laid to rest, briefly shifting through echoes of their parents before returning to themself.

At Arcady’s request, Everen ignites the cairns; Sorin offers last rites, giving Arcady closure. As Arcady grieves under Everen’s wing, Sorin reflects on the deaths they’ve witnessed and her complicated feelings about Magnes.

Jaculus, Sorin’s wyvern, finds her, revealing a bond that helped preserve pieces of Sorin’s memories and desire to fly. Sorin decides she cannot return to Vatra, where every corner recalls Magnes’s abuse, and asks to remain to repair the cottage and make new memories.

Sorin shares a longer plan: when able, she will travel to seek the bearer named in her seal record, uncertain of welcome but determined to learn the truth. Arcady offers contacts for aid; Sorin resists charity, softened by Everen’s reminder that help is not always pity.

They part amicably: Arcady and Everen—Emberclaw—take flight toward their remaining obligations, while Sorin stays with Jaculus. She inventories her scant supplies, sips Elixir to ease withdrawal, and rests in peaceful wilderness, resolved to mend the cottage, heal, and eventually begin her search.
