At sunrise, balance returns: the Dreamer settles back into slumber, the sundered Lumet is made whole after centuries, and dragons and humans again inhabit the same world. The Archivist frames these volumes as an intimate account, not a distant history.

The Archivist explains that, with the subjects’ permission, they scried past events and invited corrections. The tale centers on a woman who abandoned priesthood and assassination to find peace, and on the dragon Queen-in-Waiting tied to Emberclaw’s throne.

The Archivist also recalls the story of the last male dragon who is no longer the last. Two years after dragons’ return, in Vere Celene’s caves, a clutch warms and hatches; three dozen dragons—male and female—emerge, welcomed by their elders, ensuring a new generation.

The Archivist turns directly to Arcady, admitting to hearing Arcady writing despite vows never to do so, and teases a lost wager for a kiss. The narration defends a personal approach over dry tomes, arguing it is truer to those who lived it.

Accepting that fate still brushes their lives, the Archivist ends the work, stitches the binding, and departs to find Arcady. The signature identifies the narrator as the Twelfth Archivist of Vere Celene, closing the chronicle with affection and hope.
