Overview
Piper helps smooth Greek–Roman relations, shares a vulnerable, healing conversation with Reyna about burdens and Venus’s prophecy, and offers friendship. That night, Jason sneaks Piper to the Zeus cabin roof; they share a true first kiss, declare love, and choose a fresh start, deciding to believe Leo survived.
Summary
Piper struggles with insomnia despite peaceful days helping reunified Camp Half-Blood. She enjoys reconnecting with her Aphrodite cabin and mediates minor frictions, from returning purloined Roman gear to cooling an Ares–Mars argument. On departure morning, she negotiates with naiads who want to follow the Romans west.
Reyna finds Piper at the lake. They discuss Reyna’s draining leadership power and Venus’s cryptic warning that no demigod will heal her heart. Piper validates Reyna’s sacrifices, offers support and a place to rest at camp, and reframes Reyna’s future with hope beyond demigods. They part as true friends, not rivals.
That night, missing Hazel, the Argo II, and especially Leo, Piper lies awake replaying the battle with Gaea. Jason taps at her window and leads her up a hidden ladder in Cabin One to the domed roof, where they stargaze unseen above the camp.
Under the stars, Jason reframes their past by declaring a fresh start; they share a real “first kiss” and exchange I love yous. When grief for Leo resurfaces, Jason urges faith in Leo’s resilience. Swapping memories of Leo’s exploits, they choose to believe he lives, watching dawn with renewed hope.
