Overview
At dawn, Jason checks on Nico and outlines plans to stabilize relations between gods and camps while prophecy remains silent. Nico decides to remain at Camp Half-Blood and lead the Hades cabin. Will Solace claims Nico as a patient and friend. Percy and Annabeth reveal their New Rome college plans, and Nico finds closure by admitting his past crush on Percy.
Summary
Sleepless at dawn, Nico is visited by Jason, who is preparing for the Romans’ departure. They discuss the strange absence that Leo’s death has left and the impending return trips Jason will make between camps to build shrines and reduce divine jealousy.
Watching the Romans break camp, Jason explains that Ella, Tyson, and Rachel will travel west to reconstruct the Sibylline Books since Apollo’s prophecy is silent. Nico expresses fatigue with quests. When Jason tries to recruit him again for Camp Jupiter, Nico announces he will stay at Camp Half-Blood to lead the Hades cabin and perform proper burial rites. Jason is overjoyed and hugs Nico.
Nico is then summoned by Will Solace, who scolds him for not checking in at the infirmary and insists, as both friend and healer, that Nico rest for three days and avoid Underworld magic. Nico reluctantly agrees.
Hearing Percy and Annabeth celebrating, Nico learns they will finish high school in New York, then attend college in New Rome with the option to live there afterward. Seeking closure, Nico tells Percy he once had a crush on him but is over it. Annabeth is supportive; Percy is stunned but accepting.
Nico ends the morning with the weight of decision lifted: he will remain at Camp Half-Blood, recover under Will’s care, and move forward with clearer ties to friends and his cabin.
