Chapter Fifty-One

Overview

Sora and Tiyung speak privately in the Rose Palace war room after the kitchen incident. Tiyung, hardened by prison, reveals Sora’s note sustained him. Sora declares she will kill Seok for Daysum’s death; Tiyung accepts her resolve but pleads for hope. Sora, consumed by vengeance, pulls away.

Summary

After Aeri and Royo hurry out of the kitchen, Sora is left alone with Tiyung, stunned that he is alive. They move to a dim war room, where the sight of maps contrasts with Sora’s disorientation and mistrust. Tiyung acknowledges the shock and shows the worn note Sora once sent his father, explaining it sustained him through Idle Prison.

Sora registers how prison has changed Tiyung, making him more haunted. Guilt and exhaustion surface, but when she raises Daysum’s death, she fixes blame on Seok. Tiyung accepts responsibility within his family, apologizes for not saving Daysum, and does not ask Sora for mercy.

Sora vows to kill Seok. Tiyung, steady, agrees Seok deserves it and refuses to defend him. He urges Sora to believe in survival leading to something more, but Sora insists vengeance is her only purpose. Tiyung counters that vengeance gives no warmth and that she deserves better.

Unable to accept comfort, Sora withdraws her hand and ends the conversation, leaving Tiyung dejected in the war room while she goes to lie down, still driven by rage and grief.
