Chapter Fourteen

Aeri narrates a midnight reception at Count Rune’s vast table in Rahway. Mikail recounts their recent trials—skirting sensitive truths—while the group refuses the lavish food, wary of poison. The grief over Prince Euyn’s death hangs over the telling.

Rune reveals he knows they possess three relics, identifying Mikail’s staff as the Water Scepter and still assuming Fallador’s royalty. He declares himself their solution: he will take the Yusan throne and proposes marriage to Aeri, promising alliance and resources to remove Seok. Aeri delays with a cautious, noncommittal answer as Mikail signals approval of stalling.

As they rise, a striking woman, Misha of Jeul, appears. Rune introduces her as his newest courtesan. Sora, visibly shocked, knocks over her glass, signaling that Misha’s presence holds unexpected significance and amplifies the group’s unease about Rune’s intentions and secrets.
