Overview
Two years after Sora’s coronation, Royo works at Yusan’s Temple of Knowledge, reflecting on the realm’s peace and Sora’s reforms. He notes Mikail’s popular rule and a statue honoring Aeri. Despite stability, Royo cannot move on and studies forbidden lore, vowing to find a gateway to the Ten Hells to restore Aeri.
Summary
Royo narrates from the Temple of Knowledge in Yusan, two years after Sora’s coronation. He hauls scrolls documenting Queen Sora’s fair, admired rule and the unprecedented peace now in the realm. He closes the temple at dusk, thinking of Gaya and how sacrifice changed the world.
Royo considers Mikail—now King Adoros—and wonders how Mikail truly fares despite glowing reports. He knows a golden statue to the Dragon Lord Naerium stands over Charm Beach for pilgrims to honor Aeri, but Royo refuses to visit, feeling a statue cannot replace what was lost.
In his rock-hewn quarters, Royo’s weapons hang unused beside the gold band of friendship Sora gave him. He recalls Sora abolishing titles and buying off discontented nobles with newfound freedom from Wei tribute. He notes Rune’s appointment as ambassador, despite Royo’s lingering distrust.
Royo pores over texts on a rumored gateway to the Ten Hells, determined to find a path that does not require death. He resolves to reach the Ten Hells and bring Aeri back, ending with a vow to keep searching because he has nowhere else to be.
