Jesse opens by reflecting on lies and prioritizing Molly and newborn Adie amid family turmoil. After Georgia slips out of a fraught dinner, Adam confides his survivor’s guilt: an airport shower made him late to the World Trade Center on 9/11, likely saving his life. Jesse visits his parents, where his father reassures him about fatherhood.

Back at work, Jesse conducts a polygraph on suspected arsonist Ravi Banneker and secures a taped confession by leveraging his own past. At home, Molly misses work and they discuss childcare; wary of strangers, Jesse suggests Georgia. Molly agrees, and soon Georgia becomes Adie’s paid nanny. Domestic intimacy returns after Molly’s postpartum clearance, and Jesse notices a leaking shower that later sparks a critical realization.

After a grim polygraph case, Jesse meets Molly and Adie at Georgia’s sparse apartment, where Molly begins learning mosaics. The family rhythm improves with Georgia’s help. Jesse later proposes hosting Evie and Adam alone to reset. They arrive elated, announcing plans to renew their vows, but Jesse probes Evie about her long-told story that Eloise tried to drown baby Molly in the master bath.

Jesse points out the water was shut off there during Eloise’s mosaic project; pressed, Evie admits she exaggerated the incident to force Adam to seek psychiatric help for Eloise, never anticipating 9/11. Molly and Adam overhear. Adam apologizes and leaves, devastated; Evie breaks down, insisting she acted out of love. Molly is shattered by the betrayal and its cascading consequences.

That night, Molly and Jesse tell Georgia. Georgia recalls removing the tub but not drowning Molly, though she admits PPP-driven thoughts of harm. Molly acknowledges the lost years and unresolved anger, and Georgia promises to make the next decades count. Mother and daughter lean into a fragile reconciliation as Jesse watches, protective of their new family.
