Joyce phones Poppy’s mother, Siobhan, to explain that Poppy asked her to call and that there had been an incident. Realizing Siobhan believes Poppy works for the Passport Office, Joyce plainly reveals Poppy’s MI5 role, that she was guarding Elizabeth’s ex-husband accused of stealing diamonds, and that Poppy shot an intruder at Coopers Chase.

Siobhan is shocked and emotional, having not known the truth about her daughter’s work. Joyce reassures her that Poppy acted correctly and saved a life.
