Overview
Stephen recounts a home invasion by three armed men seeking the diamonds; Bogdan arrives, lures them outside, and swiftly eliminates the threat. Using Siobhan as leverage, Bogdan draws Sue to Joyce’s flat, where he has already shot and disarmed her. Elizabeth produces the diamonds from Joyce’s microwave, and Siobhan reveals she is Sally Montague, one of Douglas’s ex-wives. The chapter consolidates evidence against Sue and ties Douglas’s exes into the conspiracy.
Summary
Stephen describes being awakened by three armed intruders demanding the diamonds. He stalls them while Siobhan, posing as an ally, pressures him to reveal Elizabeth’s whereabouts. As the men tear apart the house, Bogdan arrives; the gunmen turn on him, and Bogdan offers to take them to the diamonds at Joyce’s, insisting they hide their weapons outside.
Once outside, Bogdan dispatches the three men, summons ambulances, and returns to help Stephen tidy up. He forces Siobhan to admit she works with Sue and has her message Sue that the diamonds are at Joyce’s. Stephen suggests simply telling the truth: the diamonds are in Joyce’s microwave.
Elizabeth, Joyce, Stephen, Bogdan, Sue, and Siobhan regroup at Joyce’s. Bogdan explains he alerted Elizabeth on arrival and then shot Sue as she entered. Elizabeth pours the diamonds from a green felt bag onto the table, confronting Sue with the cost of her scheme.
Pressed by Elizabeth, Siobhan reveals her real name is Sally Montague, one of Douglas’s ex-wives, indicating a wider involvement of Douglas’s exes. Joyce tends Sue’s gunshot wound but withholds painkillers, planning to see Sue imprisoned. The group prepares for the legal reckoning as the diamonds and confessions close the case around Sue.
