Summary
The group gathers as Joyce hints she has solved a key puzzle. She links Poppy’s ever-present headphones to the station worker’s silent headphones, arguing Poppy could have overheard Douglas confessing the diamond theft and describing the woodland dead-letter drop. From this, Joyce reasons Poppy found Douglas’s note, told Siobhan, and enabled their search.
Building on this, the team reconstructs events: Poppy located the letter, Siobhan came for the diamonds, but none were at the drop. This fuels Joyce’s theory that Douglas, enraged, killed Poppy, faked his own death, and escaped to the diamonds.
Elizabeth counters after reviewing photos of the Hove crime scene. She had suspected staging, but now suggests the inversion: Poppy may have faked her own death. Elizabeth asks who confirmed the body—Siobhan—and the implication lands that mother and daughter orchestrated the deception.
