CHAPTER 33 - BLAKE
Overview
Blake privately tells Pendragon that the Dragon Wars hid a dragon rebellion and that riders were culled after soul-binding abuses by highbloods. Their argument turns to reconciliation and sex in the library. Pendragon decides to tell Nyxaris everything and reveals to Blake she is a fae princess from another world who died before arriving here. They head to the cliffside classroom to summon Nyxaris.
Summary
After fighting Kage Tanaka, Blake meets Pendragon in the library and moves her to a secluded study. He reveals records he found outside the school: the Dragon Wars masked a dragon rebellion, sparked by highbloods soul-binding riders to control dragons. The surviving riders were later wiped out.
Pendragon processes the implications for Viktor and the regents; Blake warns Avari hands are not clean. Their dispute over secrecy and past hurts ends when Blake apologizes and begs forgiveness. Tension breaks, and they have sex in the hidden room, Blake vowing protection even from himself.
Afterward, Pendragon says she will tell Nyxaris the truth despite Rodriguez’s cautions. As they walk to Professor Hassan’s cliffside classroom to summon the dragon, they trade personal histories: first kisses, Blake’s brutal brother Marcus and the twins, and concern for Lunaya, which Blake promises to raise with Lysander.
Pendragon then reveals her deepest secret: she is fae from another world, arrived here after dying there, and was of the Pendrath royal line in Camelot. Blake believes her. Reaching the classroom, she prepares to summon Nyxaris as night and sea winds rise.
