After class, Medra sees Marcus Drakharrow with Lunaya. Shaken by his attention to them, Medra decides to finally tell Florence about the Tribunal’s plan to use her.
Summary
In Professor Allenvale’s greenhouse class, Medra struggles with guilt over hiding the Tribunal’s leverage plan from Florence. As essays are returned, Florence earns top marks while Medra receives a respectable grade, highlighting their differing focuses and Medra’s distracted state.
Neville the fluffin bursts into class and settles with Florence. Professor Allenvale responds kindly, sparking a discussion with Lunaya Orphos about fluffins: they are rare, reputed healers, sensitive to powerful energies, and historically companions to dragons and riders. This reframes Neville as potentially significant, especially to Florence’s healing interests.
After class, Medra notices Marcus Drakharrow speaking with Lunaya outside. When Marcus recognizes Medra and appears to note Florence, his expression turns cold and predatory, heightening the perceived threat.
Shaken, Medra shields Florence and decides she can no longer keep the truth from her friend. She resolves to tell Florence privately about the Tribunal’s intent to use her as a pawn to control Medra.
