Summary
Nomad and Rebeke spot a lone incoming vessel: the Cinder King’s personal ship. The Cinder King steps onto the bow, eyes burning, letting the craft hover as if inviting parley. Nomad suspects the earlier scout may have reported them and concludes the arrival is specifically for him.
Exchanging a brief, wry aside with the internal knightly voice, Nomad affirms his need to keep moving or die. He tells Rebeke to act as if she isn’t present, but to watch for his signal of trouble—crashing through a window—before attempting any rescue.
Committed to seizing initiative, Nomad mounts his cycle and ascends. The luxury ship hovers near the cycle’s ceiling; the climb strains his machine and pops his ears with the pressure change.
