Chapter 15
Overview
On a stormy morning, Sabrina drags everyone to breakfast, where Wyn takes a suspiciously cheerful call he labels a work matter. The group accepts Sabrina’s minimalist wedding plans. To ease pressure on their final week together, Harriet proposes each person pick one private must-do, a pact everyone adopts.
Summary
Harriet wakes hungover beside Wyn as Sabrina barges in, mistaking the strewn bedding for signs of passion. Flustered, Harriet dresses while Wyn heads for the shower, their banter edged with unresolved attraction. She checks on Cleo and a very hungover Kimmy before Sabrina’s air horn drives everyone out the door.
At Bernadette’s, rain lashes the harbor. Harriet spots her grumpy flight seatmate, and Wyn’s proximity stirs old feelings. When Wyn steps away to take a call, he returns cheerful but brushes it off as work, leaving Harriet suspicious.
Over coffee and their usual orders, the friends joke through their hangovers. Talk turns to Sabrina and Parth’s dockside wedding; Sabrina insists on keeping it small and simple, focused on being together this final week in the cottage.
Storms cancel sailing plans, souring Sabrina’s mood. Wanting to safeguard the week, Harriet shares a childhood strategy: each person picks one specific thing to do or have so the week still feels successful despite setbacks.
The group agrees. Prompted by Wyn and Parth, they decide to keep goals private to reduce pressure until they’re met. The scene ends on a lighter note as Cleo playfully teases Kimmy’s dance moves, the pact quietly reframing the rest of their time together.
