Bree follows her grandmother’s guidance to the cave beneath the Bell Tower and finds the chamber in chaos. Rhaz has summoned hellcreatures that are battling the Legendborn, while Nick kneels on an island near Excalibur, bloodied and struggling against Arthur’s Call. Bree enters the fight, helping Felicity and Russ against hellbears as the cavern begins to collapse from the force of the battle.

Rhaz survives Bree’s earlier attack and reappears, killing Whitty from behind before Bree can react. Rhaz threatens to order the demons to kill everyone unless Bree tells Nick to accept Arthur’s Call and take up Excalibur. When Bree refuses and warns Nick that Rhaz intends to end the Lines, Rhaz demonstrates his threat by hurling Russ into a stone wall, leaving Felicity devastated.

As Rhaz again threatens Bree, Sel returns in the form of a great owl and strikes Rhaz with an aether dagger. Sel shifts back to human form and drags Rhaz from the water, but Rhaz is only pretending to be defeated. Rhaz attacks Sel, nearly strangles him, and smashes Sel’s head before Sel sinks into the moat.

Nick’s resistance breaks under Arthur’s Call. Speaking with Arthur’s voice, Nick rises and approaches Excalibur while Bree’s grandmother warns that “the old mother,” Vera, is present. Nick grips the sword and pulls, but Excalibur does not move, shocking everyone, including Davis and Rhaz.

In the stunned aftermath, time seems to stop for Bree. Vera, the oldest mother of Bree’s family, fills Bree and asks what Bree wants to know. Bree asks for everything, not only because of the demons or Nick, but because Faye’s life and death matter; Vera agrees to give Bree power bound with truth and pulls Bree into her memory.
