Odrade surveys the bazaar, reflecting on Rakis’ renamed cities and the priests’ rituals. Taraza’s recent report about Waff and his frozen Sufi-Zensunni pattern heightens Odrade’s focus on the strategic stakes surrounding Sheeana.

Below, five naked men begin the Siaynoq “Dance Diversion,” a chaotic ritual evolved from Fremen sandwalking. As Sheeana’s tall Priest Guardians and priestesses approach through the crowd, the mob’s tension erupts: missiles fly, fights break out, and the dancers are swallowed by the crush. The Guardians form a barrier and escort Sheeana into Odrade’s building.

Inside, Sheeana bursts in, exhilarated by the dance and dismissive of priestly warnings. Her remark that “Shaitan would never eat those dancers” triggers Odrade’s insight: Siaynoq is a communal language of movement, tone, and pheromones—powerful, untapped social energy rooted in survival patterns.

Recognizing the leverage this gives the Sisterhood, Odrade commits to accompany Sheeana into the desert at the first opportunity. She resolves to fold Waff into this plan, intending to take him with them and thereby further Taraza’s strategy to entangle the Tleilaxu.
