Overview
After Tessa’s brutal assessment, Theon struggles between protectiveness and control while managing her fragile state. He forges the official report, debates her hidden lineage with his brothers, and relocates them to The Palace. Tessa relies on the Source bond for comfort, deepening their connection before the looming dinner with Felicity.
Summary
Rhett removes Tessa’s IV as she wakes weakened from the assessment. Theon insists on accompanying her to the restroom, sparking a boundaries argument. Tessa dresses with difficulty, learns her results are “inconclusive,” and is escorted out with Theon, Luka, and Axel. In the vehicle, Tessa admits exhaustion and nestles into Theon for relief through the Source bond.
While Tessa sleeps, Theon tells Luka and Axel the Priestess implied Tessa’s lineage was falsified. They debate who could hide her heritage and why; Theon suspects Tessa knows more, while Axel defends her and warns Theon against coercion. They agree to get through the trip and dinner with Felicity before confronting anything further.
They visit Tucker, a mortal forger, to alter Tessa’s official results. After approving the changes, they head to The Palace penthouse, arranging clothing and supplies. Tessa wakes, disoriented, and Theon ushers her upstairs to rest before dinner.
At the penthouse, Tessa showers and, still shaken, asks Theon to sleep beside her because the bond helps ground her. They lie down together; Theon comforts her, reflecting on the assessment’s trauma and her guardedness. He notes that despite the cost, the bond is strengthening as Tessa begins to seek him out.
