Chapter Seventy-Two
Overview
Aeri, Royo, Sora, and Mikail brace to confront Quilimar, Wei’s fleet, and gathered forces at Quu’s harbor. Mikail gives Aeri the Dragon Lord ring, which fuses with her amulet and changes her eyes gold. Realizing the stakes and her lineage, Aeri resolves to kill the remaining Baejkins to secure her loved ones’ future.
Summary
Aeri surveys Quu’s harbor, recognizing that she, Royo, Sora, and Mikail face overwhelming forces led by Queen Quilimar and Wei’s fleet. She affirms her commitment to Royo and her friends, deciding they must make their stand here because the rulers’ power endangers everyone she loves.
Mikail produces the Dragon Lord ring taken from Euyn and entrusts it to Aeri. When Aeri dons it, power surges through her and the ring fuses with her skin, joining the Sands of Time amulet already bound to her. The fusion alters Aeri: her eyes turn golden, signaling a deeper bond with the Dragon Lord relics.
The change prompts Aeri to question whether her father could sense relics as she sensed Euyn with the ring, and she reassesses why the Flaming Sword was not used by Yusan. Comforted by Royo, Aeri embraces a grim clarity: to keep Royo safe and to break the rulers’ hold, she must destroy the remaining Baejkins.
