Overview
Reina, overwhelmed by loss and purposelessness, surrenders to her power and transforms the grounds into a dense forest and stream, nearly giving herself away. Parisa intervenes, anchors Reina, and reframes survival as a joint effort. Their decision to face the future together restores a fragile sense of meaning.
Summary
After Parisa’s revelations, Reina feels stripped of meaning: Atlas, Nico, and Dalton can no longer offer purpose or redemption. Her grief crests into a scream as she kneels, channeling anguish into the ground. Yielding to insignificance, she surrenders her power, and the earth answers—darkening, splitting, and blooming.
A river breaks through the lawn; trees surge into a canopy, moss carpets the earth, and flowers ring the banks. Reina keeps giving, numbing pain by pouring herself into growth, until Parisa seizes her arm and pulls her from the water’s edge, urging her to stop before she gives everything away.
Held in Parisa’s embrace, Reina confesses the years she thinks she has wasted and her impulse to give it all up. Parisa counters gently: not everything has to be given today; there is still tomorrow, even under pursuit. Reina admits she could die tomorrow; Parisa replies that those are everyone’s stakes—and that they need not face them alone.
When Reina asks “We?”, Parisa answers “Yes.” They do not kiss; instead, the promise stands between them as the forest whispers. A sapling murmurs “Mothers,” signaling life giving something back as Reina accepts partnership over surrender, choosing to keep some of herself for what comes next.
