Daniel and Alexis leave the VFW, split the bet money, and she insists on paying him for the tow. Summary
Outside the VFW, Daniel hands Alexis the bet money, but Alexis stuffs it back into his pocket as repayment for his earlier tow, insisting it’s her choice to use the “ill-gotten gains.” Daniel concedes, relieved not to collect from his friends in the off-season.
Preparing to part in the fog, Alexis asks about food. With no nearby options, Daniel invites her to his place for grilled cheese with garden tomato and basil. Alexis agrees but sets clear conditions: no one-night stands as a goal, she will bring her Taser, drive herself, and confirms neither has anyone who might believe they’re in a relationship. Daniel accepts all terms.
They leave separately for Daniel’s house. The next morning, Daniel wakes at six a.m., naked and elated, calling it the best date of his life—only to realize Alexis has already left, leaving him happy yet abruptly alone.
