Overview
From Daniel’s POV, a week after Alexis left, he’s despondent and juggling off-season small-town limits and Doug’s mental health needs. Alexis calls about the hoodie, admits concerns about their age gap, and agrees to visit. Daniel arranges the B&B, mobilizes friends for food and advice, and readies for her late-night arrival, confirming the spark endures.
Summary
Daniel broods at the VFW a week after Alexis left, replaying the chaotic night and blaming everything from his loft to Doug’s pig and his dog. He hides that they slept together, sensing their connection was more than casual. He stays to support Doug, whose depression worsens in the off-season.
When Liz mentions a phone call, Alexis is on the line. Through playful banter about the stolen hoodie, Daniel admits her leaving ruined his week. Alexis apologizes and hesitantly raises the age gap; Daniel dismisses it as irrelevant to him.
Alexis warns she’s not emotionally available and doesn’t usually have one-night stands. Daniel proposes they just hang out, then jokes about a bet to tip her toward yes. She agrees to come that night despite the long drive but asks not to share a bed. Daniel offers the closed B&B, promising her own room and dinner.
After exchanging numbers and the address, Daniel panics about what to do in a town with nothing open. Liz and Doug reassure him; Doug offers a gourmet basket, and Liz suggests flowers. Daniel rushes to clean the B&B, his loft, and truck, and tends to Chloe while coaching his unruly dog Hunter.
As Alexis texts she’s five minutes out, Daniel’s nerves spike—but seeing her pull in, he realizes the attraction and chemistry are still real.
