Overview
Alexis returns from helping Liz and tells Daniel their relationship has become more than sex, but she sees no future due to distance and her looming workload. Daniel chooses to keep seeing her despite the inevitability of an end. They agree to continue, accepting heartbreak as the cost.
Summary
Daniel waits for Alexis, who arrives exhausted from settling Liz safely at home. She reports taking photos of Liz’s injuries and respecting Liz’s refusal to involve police, then asks to talk privately in Daniel’s loft.
On the bed, Alexis admits what began as a casual arrangement is no longer just sex for her. She planned to end things but can’t, and warns that her potential new job and their incompatibilities mean she doesn’t see a future together. Daniel insists he should decide what’s fair to him and says he wants to keep seeing her.
Pressed, Alexis explains their lives don’t fit—distance, career demands, and life stages. Daniel silently weighs the gaps in age, money, and lifestyle, recognizing she fits in Wakan but he doesn’t fit her world. He hopes he might change her mind but knows it’s unlikely.
Ultimately, Daniel accepts the terms: they will continue knowing it’s temporary and will end. He commits with eyes open, understanding he’ll likely be hurt, but choosing time with Alexis over losing her now.
