Chapter 46
Overview
Blake discovers Medra sleepwalking in the Dragon Court, speaking Classical Sangrathan to an unseen presence. He carries her back to the First Year tower and alerts Florence, noting her mistrust. Disturbed yet resolved, Blake plots a risky move to make Medra accept his protection before the Consort Games.
Summary
At Springrise, Blake lies awake with Neville the fluffin, uneasy despite the animal’s calming presence. Earlier, after feeding in Veilmar, he encountered Medra (Pendragon) in the Dragon Court, wearing a nightdress and speaking fluent Classical Sangrathan to no one visible, her eyes glassy and unfocused.
Blake tried to rouse Medra without success, then carried her from the ominous courtyard. The moment felt unsettling yet intimate; Medra relaxed against him as he returned her to the First Year tower.
Blake woke Florence, who reacted with shock and mistrust upon seeing Medra in his arms. Leaving Medra in Florence’s care as she began to stir, Blake wondered what Medra had told her friend and whether Florence knew about Aenia.
Alone again, Blake reflects on Medra’s complexity and stubbornness. With the Consort Games approaching, he believes she will face serious danger and that his protection is essential. Convinced she will not accept help willingly, he considers a high-risk plan to draw her to him, aiming to secure both her safety and his own deeper goals.
