Chapter 64

Diem, Luther, and Auralie travel toward Sophos, trading wary humor as they discuss the danger of Ophiucae. They choose Sophos over returning to the Forgotten Lands so Diem can reconcile her feelings while minimizing further casualties. Diem outlines her plan: submit to Sophos’s questioning, push for a conclave to finish her coronation, and have Auralie persuade the Guardians to vacate the Kindred’s Temple temporarily. Auralie reveals that the Arboros Queen has been quietly aiding the Guardians and is half-mortal, suggesting a sympathetic Crown and a potential ally. Luther notes this could help avoid war while Diem builds alliances.

Near the border, Auralie signals hidden allies and asks to speak privately with Luther. After a long, intense exchange, Auralie suddenly embraces him. She then tells Diem she sees how deeply Luther loves her and, despite past enmity, gives their relationship her blessing, effectively welcoming him as family.
