Twenty-Two | Nathan

Nathan describes two miserable weeks away from the team and missing Anastasia. When Aaron is cleared, Nathan rejoins the Titans and they beat UT Austin, briefly lifting his mood. Back at the hotel, the team informs him that Coach Faulkner is looking for him.

Faulkner confirms Aaron’s wrist failed during sectionals; Aaron dropped Anastasia, then caught her on the way down, worsening his injury. Skinner wants Nathan benched again pending updates. Nathan focuses less on his status and more on seeing Anastasia to make sure she’s okay.

Nathan goes to Maple Tower. Sabrina warns him to be gentle and lets him in. In Anastasia’s room, Nathan apologizes and asks to see if she’s alright. Anastasia, wearing his T-shirt, is shaken but receptive. They hug, and Anastasia breaks down, admitting the loss of control has overwhelmed her.

Facing him, Anastasia recounts the fall: the lift was fine in practice, but mid-routine Aaron’s wrist gave out, he tried to save her, and she landed on her feet while he took more damage. They still finished and, despite vomiting and tears, barely qualified.

Moved by honesty and care, Anastasia kisses Nathan and asks him to “play house.” In the shower, Nathan gently washes her hair, sees her bruises, and focuses on comforting her without sexual pressure. The tenderness helps them reconnect, easing her immediate fear while their competitive future remains uncertain.
