Thirty-Three | Anastasia
Overview
Henry details Aaron’s weeks of slander, ending with a vicious jab about Anastasia’s adoption and motives, prompting Henry’s punch. Shaken, Anastasia breaks down and Nathan reassures her worth, talent, and place in the house. Later, domestic calm—cooking with JJ and Sabrina—helps her reframe food and consider moving in after Colorado.
Summary
Henry arrives the morning after the fight, and Anastasia presses for the truth. Despite initial reluctance, Henry and Nathan recount Aaron’s behavior since October: lingering by Coach Brady to undermine Anastasia, spreading rumors she’s distracted and reckless, until Coach Brady snapped back. Tim later overheard Aaron at a game calling Anastasia a jersey chaser, claiming her parents are broke, labeling her a slut, and alleging she would trap Nathan with a baby because she lacks talent.
Henry then explains last night’s escalation: Aaron announced he’d take Anastasia “home,” accused Henry and Nathan, said she was using them, called her fake, and cruelly attacked her adoption and parents. Henry punched Aaron. Overwhelmed, Anastasia thanks Henry for defending her; Henry affirms his love for her as a friend and offers her a permanent place in the house.
After Henry leaves, Nathan holds Anastasia as she cries and counters every accusation: she isn’t using him, he loves living with her, the house wants her there, and he believes in her talent and worth. Nathan shares how she makes him feel valued in a way he hasn’t since his mother died, insisting she is surrounded by people who love her.
Later, Nathan goes to the gym, and Anastasia stays with JJ and Sabrina to cook butter chicken and naan. Kitchen banter lightens the mood as JJ mediates Sabrina’s critiques and jokes about dating. Anastasia reflects on healthier fueling, recent weight gain as muscle, and letting go of calorie counting.
JJ bluntly asks about moving in; Anastasia says they’ll decide after her Colorado trip. The teammates return, praise her cooking, and the evening ends with domestic reassurance and collective support.
