Forty-Five | Anastasia
Overview
Anastasia reflects on Nate’s jealousy and her determination to handle Aaron through therapy, distinguishing partnership from friendship. She and Sabrina decide to find new housing for a fresh start. At practice, tension explodes when Aaron complains about lifts; he blames her weight gain, storms off, and Brady struggles to mediate.
Summary
Anastasia decompresses at the apartment with Sabrina, venting about men while procrastinating dress alterations. She misses Nathan but recognizes his protector-fixer nature and how his jealousy over Aaron stems from insecurity about his place in her life. She resolves that partnership with Aaron is pragmatic, not personal, and insists Nate must trust her judgment.
In therapy with Dr. Robeska, Anastasia sees Aaron confronted on his manipulations and emotional weaponizing. Back at the apartment, she feels scrutinized around food and questions whether it’s real or imagined, while seeking reassurance from Nathan about her recovery.
Craving a reset, Anastasia tells Sabrina she doesn’t want to live in their current building next year. Sabrina immediately calls her father, who agrees to help them find a new place, offering a fresh start.
At practice, frustration peaks when Aaron grunts during lifts. Anastasia calls a stop, accusing him of undermining focus; Aaron retorts that he must adjust to her attitude and weight gain. She counters that her added muscle is minimal compared to his lifting capacity. Tempers flare, Aaron quits the session, and Brady attempts to rein them in as Anastasia skates off to cool down.
