Summary
Three months after nationals, Nate and Anastasia wake together, joking about a meeting with Director Skinner and their upcoming move. Nate reflects on winning the NCAA championship with Anastasia and their families present, noting his father’s continued indifference.
At Skinner’s office, Nate learns an anonymous student reported the truth about Aaron Carlisle’s off-campus drunken injury and vendetta. An independent investigation clears Nate’s record, and Skinner confirms Aaron has transferred to UCLA. Nate texts Anastasia, realizing she likely submitted the evidence, and they celebrate Aaron’s departure.
Nate then meets Coach Faulkner to discuss team leadership. Drawing on observations from his bench time and talks with Robbie, Nate recommends Henry Turner as the next captain for his calm, honesty, performance, and two-year eligibility. Faulkner agrees to consider it.
Returning home, Nate finds the house full of teammates lured by Anastasia and JJ’s cooking. Over a lively pad thai dinner with friends, Nate appreciates Anastasia’s transformation and their shared domestic rhythm, ending with an intimate affirmation of their relationship’s strength.
