During mediation, Jeremy’s lawyer reframes Jeremy’s sudden demand for full custody as a bid for weekday custody with Naomi relegated to alternating weekends. Ezra counters that Naomi has been the primary weekday caregiver and that Jeremy’s workload makes his proposal impractical.

Jeremy alleges Naomi is irresponsible, citing tardiness and reliance on their nanny, Rosita, and a recent missed pickup time. Naomi disputes the claims, saying Jeremy encouraged extra help and miscommunicated times. Hardwick argues Teddy should remain in the marital home and disparages Naomi’s apartment as inadequate, claiming to have photos.

Tensions spike when Naomi blurts out Jeremy’s relationship with Veronica. Jeremy then blurts an offer to pay Naomi $250,000—then $500,000—if she accepts his custody terms. The mediator and attorneys condemn the offer as inappropriate, and the meeting breaks.

Privately, Ezra calms Naomi and explains Jeremy’s likely motive: with more than 50% custody, Jeremy avoids paying child support and many expenses given their income gap. Ezra remains confident they can fight in court if necessary and reassures Naomi about eventual fees, given expected financial recovery.

Afterward, Naomi sees Veronica’s car in the parking lot. Resisting an impulsive act, she gathers information instead—photographing Veronica’s license plate—determined to uncover who Veronica is and why she is involved with Jeremy.
