As Behemoth approaches and then transits the Ring, a brittle calm settles over the crew. Bull orders full battle-readiness and monitors for trouble while messages home surge. After entry, the slow zone’s eerie environment heightens tension, but systems appear stable.

A broadcast from Naomi Nagata declares the earlier Rocinante claim a fake, provides evidence of the saboteur, and offers inspectors under safety rules. Simultaneous cross-fleet broadcasts demand clarification, while sensors show a lone EVA—James Holden—heading for the glowing central structure. Naomi confirms Holden was “called” there.

Earth and Mars launch marine skiffs to intercept Holden. On Behemoth’s bridge, Ashford orders a matching force. Bull explains they lack powered-armor troops and refuses to send poorly equipped crew to certain death. An Earth skiff exceeds the speed cap and is halted, likely killing its marines; the Martian skiff continues, but Holden will reach the station first.

Reviewing Rocinante’s evidence, Bull doubts the tale’s most fantastic elements but focuses on practical leverage.
